PHS cross country enters the final stretch

The Petersburg High School cross country team is gearing up for the Region 5 Championships this weekend after a successful showing in the Capital City Invitational last Saturday.

The quick trip saw the Vikings battle the elements as they labored through the rain and mud on the packed course.

While Petersburg only brought 10 students total, Juneau-Douglas and Thunder Mountain had upwards of 50 or more each and Sitka had over 30.

Juneau-Douglas placed first in the women's race with 21 points and had seven students in the top 10 including first-place Etta Eller who ran a 19:24.
