Stephanie Hayes glides the frozen surface of Blind Slough. Local skaters flocked to Mitkof Island's frozen beaver ponds, lakes, sloughs, and Parks and Rec's skate pond to make good use of the recent cold snap. Though now that daytime temperatures are drifting back above freezing, skaters will have to exercise caution and patience when venturing onto the wild ice.
