Tasha Lee Prus

Tasha Lee Prus, age 57, passed to her eternal life peacefully surrounded by loving family on January 9, 2023, after a long illness.

Tasha was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 3, 1965. As a member of a military family that moved many times, her childhood sparked her love of travel. After college she worked on a fish processing barge in Alaska. When it stopped on Mitkof Island, she fell in love with the small fishing village of Petersburg. She made her vision of living there come true when she met her husband and stayed to raise their family of five for thirty-two years.

Tasha worked numerous jobs until she found her cherished spot at the Petersburg Pilot where she started with typesetting, helped run the press and eventually held the prestigious position of press operator. Her professional roles were just an extension of what was truly important to her, her family. Not only did Tasha provide a loving home for her family, but almost always fostered others. She had a green thumb and kept a house full of plants. She made the best homemade bread and many of her recipes have been shared throughout her lifetime.

Tasha was a generous person and service to others was instrumental in her everyday values. She was inspired by the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and lived a life of faith. She had a contagious laugh and inspired others with her wisdom. Despite living with a chronic disease, Tasha lived a beautiful life of great service to others, caring for herself and her family. She will be missed.

Tasha leaves behind her soulmate, best friend, and husband of 22 years Joseph Prus; her children Sebastian Fisher (Elizabeth Amanecer), Adam (Camrin) Fisher, Indigo (Will) Hanahan, Asia VanEttinger, Josie (Eduardo) Preciado and foster son Kenneth (Theressa) Berkeley, and their children Damon, Trent, and Evie; her parents, Jerry and Jerrie Lee; her beloved grandchildren Wyatt Thomassen, Christian and Theodore Hanahan, Eloise Preciado, and Isabella Tarquino, Traezja, Ellia, and Future.

She will be missed by siblings Melodie (Rex) Head, Michelle (Richard) Hirst, Andrea (Deric) Masten, Mark (Leah) Lee and her many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and countless friends and family.

The family is incredibly grateful to the staff of Petersburg Medical Center, the Medevac team, and the staff of UW Medical Center for the excellent care of our dear Tasha.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Tasha's memory to Petersburg Medical Center Foundation for the Emergency Medevac Fund: shorturl.at/hsuS3.

Services will be held at a later date.
