Mary Reep, posing here on the boardwalk, was an elementary teacher in Petersburg in the 1920s who also performed in many local musical events. "The Lord of the Eastertide" was one such production by the Community Lutheran Chorus, and was advertised as "one of the most splendid musical events ever attempted by a Petersburg organization." In 1924, Mary helped teach night school to locals of varying educational backgrounds, including a class in English for those who only spoke Norwegian, as Mary knew the language. She departed in 1930 to take a position in Cordova after being feted at three separate bridge parties. Photo is on loan from the Troy Thomassen collection. Information and photos for this column are provided by the Clausen Memorial Museum.
