The Sitka Sound sac roe herring fishery got a unique start on Wednesday March 29. Pete Feenstra of F/V Noble Provider hailed Brannon Finney of F/V Alaskan Girl on the radio and proposed to her while the entire fleet and much of the town stood by channel 10 for the opener. After Finney said yes, the fleet responded with chatter on channel 10. "What a romantic start to the fishery!" "Congratulations!" "Way to go!" Finney and Feenstra met in Sitka six years ago during the sac roe fishery. They have since fished every state on the west coast together working with or alongside each other for squid, crab, salmon, and herring.
