May 25, 1923 – The performance put on by the Lacare Vaudeville Company last night at the Variety Theater was greatly enjoyed by the house full of people that witnessed it, especially the part where Devere escaped from the ropes and shackles put on by Marshals MacGregor and Wick. Tonight Devere will be shackled by these two men using their own handcuffs and straight jacket. Mr. Devere will also escape from a box after having been nailed in by local merchants. Two reels of comedy pictures will open the show, starting at 8 o’clock.
