Open-water swim across Frederick Sound

After coming up just shy last year, Andrew Simmonds achieved his goal of completing an open-water swim across Frederick Sound last Saturday. Simmonds entered the waters of Sandy Beach at 7 a.m. and swam for seven hours traversing seven miles until reaching the mainland around 2 p.m. A story on his crossing will be featured in next week's edition of the Petersburg Pilot.
