Ken Hagerman, 1942 – 2019, was a star player on the Petersburg High School Varsity Basketball team and a proud member of the Viking Letterman's Club. His letterman's sweater, knitted in the Petersburg High School colors of navy and white, was made by the Skookum Company in Centralia, Washington. The name 'K. Hagerman' is embroidered in cursive inside the back of the neck and 'Kenny' is stitched on the arm. Each of the white felt stripes on the left arm represents a year of participation on the team. The white chenille letter P is for Petersburg, while the harp patch with PHS in white represents his membership in the Petersburg High School band, where he played alto saxophone. The number 60 on the right hip pocket, indicates his graduation year of 1960. A symbol of hard work, dedication and personal achievement, the letterman sweater fosters a sense of belonging and connection to school while celebrating athletic achievement and school pride. Ken Hagerman was active throughout high school in sports, student council, theater and band. He went on to be an active community member. He worked for the Petersburg Public Works Department and the State of Alaska Department of Transportation as Petersburg's airport manager, was a member of the Elks Lodge, a volunteer fireman and served on both the Petersburg city council and school board. His letterman's sweater was donated to the Clausen Museum by the Hagerman family.
