August 23rd is observed in many European countries as a day of remembrance for one of the most cynical political actions in Western history and is recognized by many, including our Canadian neighbors, as Black Ribbon Day. This Saturday marks the 86th anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact between the Stalinist Soviet Union and Hitler’s Nazi Germany.
