$1,000 PFD arrives starting Oct. 2

Alaska residents can expect to receive their 2025 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend of $1,000 beginning in early October, according the Alaska Department of Revenue.

The 2025 dividend amount of $1,000 per recipient was set by the Alaska Legislature in House Bill 53, and is a sharp decrease from the 2024 PFD amount of $1,702 allotted to each eligible resident.

More than 600,000 Alaskans, according to the Department of Revenue, will begin receiving their dividends early next next month. Depending on how applications were filed, the DOR states, payments will either be disbursed Oct. 2 or Oct. 23.

“For 2025 PFD applications that were filed electronically, requested direct deposit, and are in “Eligible-Not Paid” status as of September 18, 2025, payment will be disbursed on October 2, 2025, states a department announcement. For 2025 PFD applications that are in “Eligible-Not Paid” status as of October 13, 2025, payment will be disbursed on October 23, 2025.  This includes 2025 paper and electronic applications, requested direct deposit and check payments.

According to the state’s official PFD website, this will be the fourth-lowest amount allotted to Alaskans in the past quarter-century, only three years after 2022 saw each eligible Alaskan receive $3,284 in the largest payout of the program’s history.

2012, 2013 and 2020 did not see PFD allotments hit the four-digit mark that this year’s dividend reaches. In the aftermath of the Great Recession, the smallest PFD within the past 25 years came in 2012, totaling $878.
