To the Editor:
Petersburg is concerned over the Communications Towers projects from a subsidiary of Tlingit and Haida called Tidal Network. Last month’s Planning Commission meeting was not packed for fear of progress; we realized that our local rules were written in a different era. Once federal processes are already in motion, communities have far less influence than people expect. That realization has played out in towns across the country, sometimes with good outcomes, sometimes not.
