Assembly funds engineering restart for water treatment upgrade

The Petersburg Borough Assembly voted unanimously Monday to hire an Anchorage engineering firm to revive a water treatment plant upgrade that stalled more than a decade ago — replacing a rusting open-top tank that has outlived its useful life.

The assembly approved spending up to $200,600 to retain GV Jones & Associates Inc. for design and technical services on the clearwell tank replacement project.
