A seasonal exhibit on Alaska's history of canned salmon is on display now at the Clausen Memorial Museum.
It showcases historical can labels and recipes that were used to market salmon to the Lower 48 states.
"[The exhibit is] all about beautiful labels and the little recipe cards that came along with them, and how canned salmon as a product was marketed to the rest of the country that did not have salmon," Museum Director Sarah Pederson said. "In the 30's and 40's...they launched this great marketing campaign targeted at housewives primarily, using beautifully illustrated canned labels."
