    Frieda Elsie (Miller) Jordan, 87, died in Bellingham, Wash. on September 5, 2015. She was born February 8, 1928, the youngest of eight children to Henry and Magdalene Miller on the Ten Mile family farm. She loved family, faith and music. After graduating Valedictorian from Meridian High in 1945, Frieda spent two years at Lutheran Bible Institute where she performed in the LBI Women's Quartet. She graduated in 1948 then worked at Camp Lutherwood where she met Paul Jordan; they married in 1952.... Full story

To the Editor: Over the last several weeks I have contacted the local head representative of the highway department, public works, borough manager, flaggers on the Nordic construction site and no will take responsibility for the extremely dangerous blocked sidewalks that force us into the traffic and construction.     Sixteen local residents have declared candidacy for local boards and commissions. Six seats remain open. The only contested seat is on the Harbor Board where three candidates have filed to fill two three-year terms. John Murgas and incumbents Bob Martin and Jim Stromdahl will face off for the two seats.     The 2nd annual Paddle Battle sponsored by the Petersburg Medical Center Foundation saw 33 paddlers this year and one ride-along pup. Paddlers from age seven to 66 took to the water with 22 folks completing the full 14-mile course from the Papke's Landing launch ramp to Sandy Beach Park. Paddlers paid a $20 entry fee and asked for pledges for each mile paddled.
