    The city manager presented the following report to the Assembly at Monday’s meeting. The 30 percent design documents for the Emergency Stand-by Generator (350 kw) replacement have been received from the vendor. At Crystal Lake, we intend to replace the old “bubbler” lake level indicator system with a new electronic transducer, and add a new air temperature sensor – weather permitting. When complete, we will no longer have to maintain the nitrogen gas system at the lake, and the readings will be much more reliable and accurate. Spillman Records...

    July 29, 1916 – Captain Bert Haug and crew of the Mildred are reported to have seined 155,000 salmon within less than two weeks, the fish being brought in by tenders. Captain Oscar Nicholson, arriving in with the Eunice the first of the week from Yakutat waters, had a catch of 12,000 sockeyes. About half a million pounds of halibut and 150,000 pounds of salmon and black cod have so far been frozen.     WRANGELL - Close to 100 people participated in a memorial walk on Sunday, held to remember those killed or injured in a car crash in Petersburg early last week. Meeting at Wrangell's city dock, more than a third of the walkers were from the neighboring community.
