    The Rasmuson Foundation named Petersburg artist, Ashley DuRoss an Individual Artist Award winner of a $5,000, Project Award. DuRoss is also the art teacher at Petersburg High School. DuRoss is a visual artist whose work explores the relationship between light and shadow on physical structures. For her project award, she will ship work and travel to upcoming solo shows in Fairbanks and Anchorage.     June 2, 1982 - A new hematology cell counter was purchased for the hospital by the Hospital Guild. The cell counter, financed with money raised through the Charity Box, counts red and white cells in the blood and can be used to test for appendicitis, leukemia, cancer and other diseases. Before the machine was purchased, the lab technologists counted the cells by hand.     A group of Petersburg golfers seized the day last weekend as three teams from the borough took the top spots at the Bobs’ IGA 9-hole scramble at Muskeg Meadows Golf Course in Wrangell. The team of Randy Littleton and George Woodbury won the event on Saturday, May 19 after shooting a net score of 28(-8) on the par-36 course.
