The City of Petersburg awarded Jensen, Yorba and Lott, Inc. with the bid for the design and plan development of the Petersburg Police Department and Jail Facility at a cost of $465,000.

Proposals were received from Jensen, Yorba and Lott, Inc. (JYL) of Juneau and Bettisworth North Architects and Planners, Inc. (BNAP) of Anchorage.

Public Works Director, Karl Hagerman detailed in a letter to Petersburg City Manager, Stephen Giesbrecht that both proposals were very good at detailing the experience levels of the Project Manager, project team members and the various professional firms that they represent. Both companies proposed to use specialized consultants to develop the plans and design requirements for a police department and jail facility.

JYL estimated a cost for services of $465,000, while BNAP estimated a cost of $477,000.

“The deciding factor in the evaluation was the vast experience that JYL and its proposed team members has with Petersburg, our local leadership, our local construction conditions and the Petersburg Police Department to date,” Hagerman said. “They have successfully designed many projects in Petersburg and have already taken part in developing programmatic concepts of a previous public safety building as well as the condition assessment of the current Police Department.

This bid was awarded by a unanimous vote of the Petersburg City Council Monday evening.
