Eileen M. Lund

Eileen M. Lund passed away peacefully on

Monday, November 11, 2013 in Seattle, WA.

surrounded by her family.

She was born in Petersburg, Alaska to Ragna and Peder Ness on February 26, 1933.

They moved to Ballard 4 years later where she lived the rest of her life. She attended Webster

Elementary, James Monroe Junior High, and was a proud graduate of Ballard High School, class of 1951, Eileen went to work for the National Bank of

Commerce where she remained until the birth of her first child.

In the mid 50's, she joined the Seattle Tip Toppers, a social group for tall people. There she met and

married William Lund in 1958.

She was known for her bright smile, kindness, welcoming nature,and gentle spirit. She loved being a mother and grandmother and was a good friend.

She found joy participating in her children's activities. She was a Brownie leader, a chaperone on band and choir trips, Home Room Mother, and PTA member. She was also a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church where she was very active in the Women of the Church, altar guild, council, book club, and soup kitchen. She loved traveling, attending Husky football and Seattle Storm games, musical theater and concerts.

She was proud of her Norwegian heritage, and was known for her holiday traditions. She will be deeply missed.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 55 years William Lund. Her 4 children, spouses, and 4 granddaughters: Laurie Lund-Gonzalez (Ernie, Marisa & Amanda Gonzalez),Peter Lund (Jenifer Norman-Lund & Alexandria Lund), Kenneth Lund (Silvia Rigote) and Jennifer Lund (Kenneth

Higgins & Kiara Higgins).

A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 1st at 2:30 pm at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church 2400 NW 85th St., Seattle WA, 98117.

In memory of Eileen, donations can be made to the Ballard Food Bank, Our Redeemer's Church, or the Alzheimer's Association.
