Paul Arvid Blatchford, 72

Paul Arvid Blatchford passed away peacefully at home in Elma, Wash. on June 6, 2014. He was born July 5, 1941 in Petersburg to Arthur and Pauline Blatchford.

Following high school, Paul joined the Air Force, the highlight of his life, and was stationed in France. While overseas, he traveled through England, exploring where his father was from and looking up family members.

When his tour was up overseas, he was stationed in Florida where he met and married Norma Jean. Together they had two children, Kara and PJ. After leaving the Air Force, they moved back to Petersburg. There, he and Norma Jean went their separate ways.

Paul met and married Clara and began working for the Public Health Service, traveling throughout Alaska working in the village communities. After retiring, the family moved to Washington where he lived until his passing.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pauline; wife, Clara; brother, Jim; and sisters, Myrtle and Mary Ann.

Paul is survived by his sister, Kay; daughter, Kara; son, PJ; step-children, Lonnie, Robert and Karen; mother-in-law, Virginia; brother in law, Dick; and his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was cremated along with his wife, Clara, and they will be buried together. There will be no memorial service.
