    Petersburg High track and field took 15 athletes to the state meet in Anchorage last week, and the girls team scored enough points to earn third place out of 29 1A/2A/3A teams. The number of competitors was the most head coach Brad Taylor had ever taken to the season finale, and every Viking scored points in at least one event.     Kåre R. Aas, the Norwegian ambassador to the United States, is in town for Mayfest, and he cannot wait to meet and speak with locals.   • Track and field finds sunshine at meet in Ketchikan

    The weather finally cooperated with sunny conditions for the track and field teams last weekend in Ketchikan. PHS took over 30 athletes and 20 middle schoolers also made the trip to compete. Team scores were not available, but the teams performed well, according to PHS head coach Brad Taylor. "The kids did really well, I was really happy with our performances," he says.     Dan Wesley Crane, 75, died on March 15, 2016. He was born on December 2, 1941 and raised in Denver, Colo., to a third generation railroading family. He began his love affair with Alaska as a nine year old boy. It was the team's first time partaking in the Big C Relays, an event put on by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.     Buschmann Park in downtown Petersburg received a long awaited addition last Friday. The bronze sculpture named "Everything starts with a dream" by local artist Eric Larson was installed. "It's a huge relief, I was apprehensive taking it down there, but then once it went in it was like 'oh, yeah,'" Larson says with a chuckle.
