August 1, 1919 Petersburg is receiving a coating of red paint. That is, that part of the town owned by the Petersburg Packing Corporation is being painted. A new mechanical process, which does away with the old hand and brush method is being used. A gas engine and compressor are mounted on an old auto frame. The paint is sprayed through a double nozzle effect, the air and paint being delivered under a 70 pound pressure. Frank Morris Harrow paintings in collection On May 5, 1981 the Clausen Memorial Museum received a donation of seven oil paintings created by Frank Morris Harrow, several of which were more than six feet long. These paintings came from the Cornelius Building when the Houge Estate was settled. Harrow was creating art in Southeast Alaska in the 1930s. For the third summer in a row, John and Margaret Grogan continue to work on their brand new home on Gjoa St., but construction is anticipated to be complete next summer. From June through early July, visitors to Jean and Clyde Curry's house at 209 Sandy Beach Rd. are greeted by a garden in full bloom and a treasure trove of items that have washed ashore. After doing research into the dome several years ago, Stanton Gregor decided to purchase one as a place for Lorraine to be closer to her two grandkids. The Muskeg Maleriers donated a sign to the Petersburg School District's garden that sits next to the high school track. Founded in 1974, the group tries to make one donation a year. The members spent about a week and a half painting the aluminum sign, which comes just in time for the summer garden program that will begin later this month. The Clausen Memorial Museum has a collection of prehistoric stone tools on display that were found on Mitkof and Kupreanof islands. The collection includes t-shaped mauls, hand mauls, and adzes. Some pieces were donated to the Alaska State Museum and then once Petersburg established its own museum a long term loan between the Clausen Memorial Museum and the State Museum was established, allowing us to share these artifacts with the community and our visitors....

July 11, 1919 Three local boys, are in jail charged with having robbed the United States Post office, the Sons of Norway store, and the Wheeler Drug and Jewelry Company store..
