    October 1, 1920 Sixty three thousand dollars was the valuation placed on a shipment of live foxes taken south on the last trip of the City of Seattle from various fox farms in the Territory. Part of the shipment was from Skagway and the interior but 20 blue foxes and ten silvers were placed aboard the boat at Petersburg.     September 24, 1920 The work of installing the new engine in the light plant is going ahead rapidly under the direction of Robert Allen, the local machinist. The engine arrived on the Admiral Rodman on Monday and was loaded onto a scow and floated to the power plant where it will be installed.     Local artist Born in Seattle in 1917, Josephine Crumrine was raised by her artist mother in various Alaskan locales including Southeast Alaska. After studying art down south, she returned to Alaska. In the 1940s the Alaska Steamship Company commissioned Josephine to create portraits of famous Alaskan sled dogs which were used as menu covers in their dining rooms.     In 1962, a Petersburg sewing club learned that the people of Noatak, population 270, were in need of clothing and fabric for household goods. The group's secretary, Mrs. Leon Hasbrouck, wrote the Noatak Mother's Club with an offer of fabric, clothing and other items for the community. A local airline even offered to fly the gift box for free. Letters, goods and toys were exchanged; and in 1965, a thank-you package from Noatak arrived for Petersburg.     September 3, 1920 W. A. Altman, locating engineer for the Butler Paper Co. of Chicago, was in Petersburg for several days this week investigating water power sites and paper mill locations.     August 27, 1920 The River and Harbor Act passed by the last session of Congress provides for a survey of Wrangell Narrows for the purpose of obtaining data as to the feasibility of dredging the Narrows and probable cost. One of the chief advantages to Petersburg from the deepening and straightening of Wrangell Narrows would be better boat service.
